Beat Box: Peanut Butter Wolf Presents 45 Live- 10 45 Single Box Set

Now this is just pure class! Literally the 3rd or 4th nice package deal coming out of the Stones Throw camp this fall (to be followed up by Mayer Hawthorne’s eagerly anticipated LP). A ten 45 rpm 7” single box set with choice hip hop cuts (many of them rare or obscure throwbacks from the 1980s) hand picked by label boss Peanut Butter Wolf.

Not only does Wolf dig hard and deep for this retrospective in the early days of the enduring genre, but he also chopped and re-edited each one, both breathing a bit of new life on these compositions and optimizing them for sound on the media format. None of these cuts originated on 45rpm/7” singles, they were all derived from 12” singles and full-length LP’s. Many of the songs here were originally over 7 minutes long, however it can be assured that Wolf leaves the bread and butter essential pieces of the songs untouched in the shortened format.

I dig Stones Throw’s nod to the overall packaging concept; to craft it as if it were a bunch of old funk 45’s. Considering how many of these tracks probably sampled funk and rare groove, just like many hip hop producers today are looking back to content within the genre from the same time period that these singles were originally released, it only makes sense. In 2030, there will probably be a label that will re-release “classics” from today on a “vintage” iPod Touch!

Contain ten 45s:
“Rockin’ It” - Fearless Four, b/w
“Love Rap” - Spoonie G
“Tricky Tee Rap” - Tricky Tee Rap, b/w
“At The Place To Be” - Sweety G
“Dancin Heart” - Universal Two, b/w
“This is the Way You Do the Break Dance” - Super Coper & Clarence Breakers
“Sucka DJ” - Dimples D, b/w
“It’s Yours” - T La Rock
“Cold Getting Dumb” - Just Ice, b/w
“It’s My Turn” – Stezo
“Make The Music” - Biz Markie, b/w
“Just Rhymin With Biz” - Big Daddy Kane
“Marley Marl Scratch” - MC Shan, b/w
“Marley Mark Scratch (Demo)” - Marley Marl
“Strong Island” - JVC Force, b/w
“The Bridge Is Over” - BDP
“Jimbrowski” - Jungle Brothers, b/w
“Tuff Crew” - My Part Of Town
“Mighty Hard Rocker” - Cash Money & Marv, b/w
“Hardcore Hip Hop” - Mantronix

Unfortunately, it’s sold out at the Stones Throw store (which is a shame as it comes with a bonus exclusive record when ordered from there), but can be had on ebay for about $60. The package is also a $10 digital download.

The business loans are important for people, which are willing to start their own company. By the way, it is very easy to get a short term loan.
