Major Lazer (Switch & Diplo) in Boston, House of Blues, 6.18.09!

This is great news! I was upset that I missed Diplo the last two times he came around to visit (at the Middle East as well as Northeastern's spring concert a few weeks ago), but being the fact that he is pretty much the biggest DJ in the world right now I knew there would be plenty of additional opportunities to see him around here. He's touring with Switch under their Major Lazer alias, who are well known for both their original production as well as remix work with the likes of M.I.A., Blaqstarr, Basement Jaxx, Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, as well as a long list of additional notables.

Their new album "Guns Don't Kill People, Lazers Do!" will release on 6/16, two days before their Boston appearance. And they're making not one, but TWO appearances in Boston: not only will they do their live gig at the House of Blues, but they will also be throwing down a DJ set and CD signing session at the Newbury Comics on Newbury St. at 6pm that night!

I don't have any additional details about this show other than it looks like Steve Porter and Redfoxx are opening, and links to purchase tickets aren't up on HOB's site yet either. But keep checking back, they should be available shortly!

The new CD is going to have notable reggae and dancehall influences as well as a slew of guest appearances. The first single is a mash-up of the classic Toto track Hold The Line just dropped a few weeks ago, get it now while it's still hot!
