Featured Mixes: Temper D Feb 2010 Mix (dnb, fidget, dubstep, house, etc.)

If you were to ask most drum and bass aficiondos who they rated the highest in terms of technical skills as a DJ, there isn’t even the shadow of a doubt that they would probably respond “Andy C” without a hiccup. However, there are a few other people out there who could easily give Andy a run for his money in regards to technical skills, Temper D being one of them.

Hailing from the UK, Temper D made instant waves during the early part of the ‘oughties based off of his skill as a DJ. Many of his sets consisted of him playing on four decks, and actually USING all four of them to weave in bits and pieces of songs with precise timing and flawless mixing. Many of his sets even changed tempo and included genres outside of drum and bass, including house or techno. After winning several competitions on boards like dogsonacid (where competition to get recognition as a DJ is fierce), he started receiving bookings throughout europe. Personally I think he’s the drum and bass equivalent to Jeff Mills or Jeff Milligan in terms of technical skills!

Mills-esque techno style DJ-ing didn’t just influence him behind the decks though. In the later half of the last decade he stepped into the production arena and creatively weaved techno into his drum and bass work as well. After launching his two labels Offkey recordings and Temper D Productions, he started signing several local acts from New England, including Brandon Miles and Tricky Pat

His most current mix, while not a showcase of his insane DJ skills, shines the spotlight on his production work instead. Almost all of the tracks on here are his own, and they run the gamut of not only drum and bass, but also dubstep, breaks, and wobble/fidget/dancefloor house. It’s only 30 minutes, but provides some great insight into what he’s been working on as of recently. Expect to hear more from him soon, especially now that he’s got some experience under his belt making beats within the 130-bpm range!
