Experience Iceland This Weekend Without Leaving Boston (3.18 - 3.22)

We all know how much influence Ireland has this time of year around the Boston area, but don’t forget about his slightly lesser-known cousin to the northwest: Iceland. A Taste of Iceland is a multi-day festival which has been going on for several days now in Boston. Bringing both the curious as well as the seasoned veterans of this small European island closer to those who don’t have the means to actually travel there, A Taste of Iceland brings Boston the best of its cuisine, nightlife, film, and music.

Many of the people involved in performing and promoting A Taste of Iceland are natives from the country, so the experience is about as authentic as one can imagine.

Although many of the food-related events of Taste have already happened, I wanted to briefly shed some light on several of the live performances happening this weekend, starting TONIGHT.

Baldur, aka DJ Ezus, will be playing TWO sets this weekend. He has complete control of the main floor at RISE (306 Stuart St, Boston MA) from 1:30-6am on Friday March 18th. Following this, he also plays Think Tank (1A Kendall Square, Cambridge MA) on Saturday.

DJ Baldur November Mix by DJ Baldur

Baldur is a well-known local DJ who has been involved in the Make It New night at the Middlesex on Thursdays for quite some time. He also spends a great deal of time playing not only in the area, but also in New York City. Expect to hear a diverse selection of techno, tech house and minimal!

Kurr by amiina

Amiina will be playing a FREE concert at the Middle East Downstairs (Central Square, Cambridge) on Saturday the 19th. This is an early event, which will go from 8 to 11:30pm. If you haven’t heard of Amiina, you might be surprised in the fact that you actually HAVE: they provided the string backing for Sigur Ros for over a decade! Following this, these ladies have been working as their own entity on the side, recently completing their second album “Puzzle”.

The weather is supposed to be pretty nice this weekend, so check these events out if you’re in the area!
