Createspace Sweet Shop IV: Dirtybird's J.Phlip Brings the Sugar to Goodlife
Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 12:15PM
Sweet Shop is back with yet another treat. Hailing from the legendary Dirtybird Records, J. Phlip is a savant of all things bass. Her DJ sets are a mix of house and breakbeats with samples from the traditional to the downright nasty. As part of her Barbary Coast EP tour (which dropped on August 17th 2011), Phlip will be crafting up her special blend of mixology just as thousands of students return.
Claude VonStroke recently wrote about Phlip: “Lots of people think they know about SF basslines but only a few actually can pull it off. Jessica is one of those people. She is one of my favorite DJs on earth and her new EP shows why she fits in so well with at dirtybird. Big basslines, quirky ideas, and a general sense of mischief make this EP stick out from all the matchy matchy tracks out there.”
