Matt McNeill has stormed onto the Boston scene with Create Space Collab, a group organized to bring very serious techno jams to Boston. Already they have put mnames like Doc Martin and Dirtybird’s J Phlip to our fair city.

McNeill is no slouch on the decks though. Through meticulous selection, considerable digging and a respect for the history of house and techno, you’ll find names like Wax next to Tevo Howard. We’ve been looking forward to hosting him at Make It New for a while.

It is also with a bittersweet air as the night will be opened by and come to a close with our friend and long-time resident DJ DJezus, aka Baldur, who is heading home to Iceland for a spell. Here’s what he had to say:

“When I moved away from Iceland I felt like a polar bear in the jungle, completely out of place. Then I found Make it New and it was cooler than ice cold, my own little iceberg it was home.”

Damn we’re gonna miss him. Baldur has opened for some of the greatest guests we’ve ever had, like Martinez, Dirt Crew, Sian and Daniel Bell. He was always there with a smile and a helping hand. Please bring him a token of your love and appreciation (like, say, a record!)

Fresh Produce tonight at Goodlife. Knife, Evaready, Theory, and Skinny Friedman on the wheels. Be on the lookout for Friedman, this guy is on the moombahton chase and has been pounding out 110bpm belters on an almost daily basis. Plenty of originals to listen to on his soundcloud, but if you’re too lazy to go over there, or goodlife for that matter, at least cop his mix for RVA mag, recorded back in February 2011. Disco, Funk & House at All Asia in Cambridge, Dia De Los Disco, 3.1.11

Bob Diesel and Cumputer, the guys behind the Dia De Los Disco night at All Asia, recently hit me up with a flyer for a party they are having at All Asia in Cambridge (332 Mass Ave). Figured I’d spread the word! 

Tonight it’s Matt Bagley and Coco Lopez on the decks. For $5, you can’t beat a chance to sample a ton of unique asian beers a lot of other bars don’t have while listening to some quality beats. 21+.

There will be drum and bass at All Asia this Monday courtesy of the Flood Cru and their monthly installment of Amen Theories. On tap behind the decks is a nice selection of local favorites and residents, and on tap behind the bar is a nice selection of beers that are also local favorites which are inexpensive (but don't forget about the 1 drink minimum!) Two blocks away from the central square T-station off Mass Ave in Cambridge.

Amen Theories @ All Asia- next monday 5.25 DJ Odi!

This should be a nice little jam at the All Asia, a great way to finish off a holiday weekend. I've lived in Boston for 5 years now and honestly don't think Odi has been booked to play a show out here at least as long as I have been here, so it is awesome that Flood Cru has invited him. I'm sure he will be just as excited to play for a Boston crowd as we will be to check out his scratching and versatile track selection!

Odi/Carlos has probably recorded at least 50 mixtapes during his 20+ years as a DJ, many of which he has made available online. My personal favorite is his tape "Skills Do Matter", which is 90-minutes of nonstop 97-98 jump up with a nice dose of stellar scratching!

Nice to see some drum and bass events returning to All Asia again! Some of you may remember the Shadow Technics night that Assembler and Alex Boesel threw there on tuesday nights for awhile. This night looks to recapture that spirit. Not to mention the plum brew at All Asia is just spifferiffic.
