After 5 Years these words still hold true. Utopia Sundays is the Mecca of Deep, Soulful House Music in the city of Boston. This night was created for YOU (Black, White, Asian, Hispanic, Middle Eastern, Indian, Jew, Gentile, Muslim, Christian, Gay, Lesbian, Transgender, whoever/whatever). It’s your party.

Utopia Sundays is about the MUSIC, you having a good time, feeling FREE to be yourself and RESPECTING each other.

On August 23rd we’ll be celebrating our 5th Year Anniversary with the Boston debut of one of the most respected soulful house Dj’s on the Planet:

I experienced Timmy at the Shelter back in 1992. That night changed my life and perspective on what it meant to be a house dj. When this man is in the zone be prepared for a work out. When he’s not traveling around the world doing guest spots he’s djing at Area Code in NYC.

This will be a monumental occasion because Timmy has never played in Boston before.

Dancing on the Charles Part II this Saturday, 7.4.09

Not only does this event require no introduction, but for this installment it also happens to fall on a holiday! That means you get a bonus: they're running the event for 12 HOURS. Can you imagine how many beers you can drink in 12 hours, or how many quality house tunes you can hear in 12 hours? The possibilities are endless! And there's a nice balance of DJ's on the lineup, including Miztah Lex of EC Army fame, who makes his return to Boston from the flashing lights of LA for the first time! We also have Bruno, founder of the legendary Utopia nights, and your favorite residents on the wheels.

Remember to try to get there early, and also know that part of your cover price goes to the proceeds of the American Legion, as well as providing funding for an effort to help clean up the coast along the Charles River. So you're supporting good causes in addition to supporting the local scene!

Basstown presents I'll House You, Great Scott, 5.30.09 Bruno vs. 7L

Bruno and 7L are two legends in Boston's music scene; both will be going head to head tomorrow and the result will be dozens of house music treats spanning the last 20 years! With 7L very busy in the studio working on his hip hop based projects you don't get to see him playing house and dance music every day, but he has well beyond 20 years of experience behind the decks so he surely won't disappoint. Bruno is the man behind the one of the longest running house music events in the city, Utopia; his career spans just as long as 7L's. Basstown hosts Die Young and Volvox will bring the opening pressure. Be there!

Also, be sure to check out 7L's side project The Bladerunners. This is an ongoing project between him and Steve "The Razor" Picardi where they take a variety of different tracks and mash them up/rework them in a dancefloor context. Their edits have been popular amongst A-list US dj's such as Kenny Dope and Z-Trip, be sure to check their site for future projects.
