The creators of Music Ecology are uniting with VJ Adrenochrome, Kate Van Rees and the team at Machine Nightclub to bring you a new monthly weekend event called Genesis. We invite you to explore the possibilities of a new world with us. Each installment of Genesis will unveil a new visible feature of this world and for the first one we’d like to focus on FLORA: We’ll explore everything that has to do with vegetation, plants, trees, vines, etc. Your participation and creative attire are welcome and encouraged!

Bassnectar and Nosaj Thing at Paradise Rock Club, 11.10.09

Although there’s no official description for this show, there honestly doesn’t need to be one. Bassnectar is a very well known DJ from San Francisco who is especially infamous for his highly eclectic and energetic sets that he has played at large-scale festivals such as Burning Man, Lollapalooza, and Shambhala. His new album Cozza Frenzy just hit the streets last week, check out a performance video and some sound clips from the new disc below.





Similar to Bassnectar, Nosaj Thing is also a solo producer from California. Flirting with everything from jazz to downtempo, glitch, dubstep, and beyond, Nosaj has also been touring very heavily off of the strength of his debut album Drift.

S.C.E.N.E.: chiptune & noise event in Salem, MA, friday 5.15.09

It's very rare when there's a dance music-related event right in my own backyard (Salem), so it's great to hear about stuff like this! Radio Scot Void is a promotional group who has been hosting experimental music events on the north shore for awhile now, and are in the process of preparing for a very large festival called S.C.E.N.E. in fall of 2010. To help build hype for this festival they will be hosting a series of events, the first of which kicks off on Friday May 15th. Chiptune, Atmospheric and Noise Electronic will be showcased and it's going down at the Gulu-Gulu Cafe. If you haven't been there before it's recommended, it's a neat little spot off of Washington St. right in the downtown Salem area and they have everything from martinis to beers to coffee and a full menu. Gulu-Gulu caters to the local art scene and routinely hosts musicians, open mic nights, gallery openings, etc. And check out their site, it's routinely updated and loaded with content!
