Party & Bullsh!t: Tribute to Biggie @ Goodlife, Feat. 7L & Frank White, 3.9.11

It’s pretty wild to think that 14 years have come and gone since the passing of Biggie Smalls, but here we are today, keeping his legacy alive by still cranking all of his tracks in the car, at the office, around the house, and at parties! Party and Bullshit was the first track Biggie released, it only dropped on a 12” single that pre-dated his debut LP (“Ready to Die”) by over a year. And 7L, On & On, and Frank White will be reflecting on both that song, as well as the artist, tonight at Goodlife

Ice cold PBR 40’s to be served, no cover! 28 Kingston St., Boston. 21+

Anyone remember Lord Finesse’s remix to Party & Bullshit?

Beat Box: Akai s950 Breaks November 2009 Edition

It’s been a little while since I’ve done an Akai s950 post, but never fear, I had some time to fire mine up yesterday and run some recently acquired vinyl through it! Just like in the last post I did back at the bitter end of August, I’m going to go ahead and post 7 different samples here that span a wide gamut of music.

New Boston Blog! Lost in Bass Covers the Glitchy and the Experimental

There’s a new blog in town that is dedicated to covering the world of everything from glitch to hip hop, dubstep, and more! Lost In Bass is run by D-Sub of the Subliminal Sessions team; you can expect to see a lot of cool content within these sub genres represented there. Subliminal Sessions is a group of several producers, promoters, and DJ’s who run a bi-weekly at the Enormous Room in Cambridge on Wednesdays (many of their flyers are posted here), and they routinely guest cameo at other events around town where these styles of music are showcased. Be sure to check out this site if you have some downtime.

Beastie Boys set to release Hot Sauce Comittee Pt. 1 in September

The Beastie Boys are back in top form in 2009, touring extensively this summer, remastering and re-releasing all of their classic albums expanded with rarities and long forgotten B-sides (Boomin' Granny, anyone?), and slowly gathering a nice amount of street hype for their 8th full length album, Hot Sauce Comittee. Slated for release on September 15th, it's supposedly going to be released in 5.1 DVD surround and feature several guests, including Nas and Bob Dylan! Not too much other info yet, but apparently a few songs were officially released by them via sneaking them into the Check Your Head re-release from earlier this year. In their usual style they will probably have a lead single that will be available for release/download a bit prior to the albums release date, with some remixes and B-sides.

Here's the albums tracklisting:

1. Tadlock's Glasses
2. B-Boys In The Cut
3. Make Some Noise
4. Nonstop Disco Powerpack
5. OK
6. Too Many Rappers (featuring NAS)
7. Say It
8. The Bill Harper Collection
9. Don't Play No Game That I Can't Win (featuring Santigold)
10. Long Burn The Fire
11. Bundt Cake
12. Funky Donkey
13. Lee Majors Come Again
14. Multilateral Nuclear Disarmament
15. Pop Your Balloon
16. Crazy Ass Shit
17. Here's A Little Something For Ya
