Round - robin all night. 90’s House/Tech-House.

Banana Peel is proud to present one of its founding artists, Fens, along side two of Boston’s most dedicated members in the electronic community.

Effective Res (Nick Minieri) is a living encyclopedia of all things dance. When he’s not running Boston’s most trusted electronic music blog (Beantown Boogiedown), he throws down some of the best and technically proficient mixes around.

**POSTER DESIGN BY DAVID TSCHIEGG**

Its that time of the month again. Join us at down at the Savant Project for what’s going to be our most explosive Funktion yet. UnheardUv.com has stirred up some good ol’ bro-on-bro rivalry between the Conte brothers. On Saturday, December 11 THE STATESMEN and RESET FROM START are going to duke it out and turn our favorite local bar into a drum n bass arena! Watch out cause things might get physical…

But we’re not stopping there…

PERILEYES will be bringing opening pressure, but don’t expect any mercy. This young-blood produces some of the gnarliest and most technical dubstep I’ve heard to date. Perileye’s pushes the boundaries of the machine-frustrated-with-mankind aesthetic. With sharp edits, hacking whomps, crisp details, and epic strings, Perileyes vividly stands out from the usual slew of Rottun crew knock-offs.

…This is the last family Funktion of 2010. The energy will be MAH-SSIVE!…

September and October 2010 Elements Lineup is Released

So I decided to cut back during the month of August posting events on here just to temporarily take a break. Now that school is back in session, the Fantasy Football drafts are over and all my favorite shows on FX are rolling new seasons in high gear, it’s time to get back to work!!

Let’s start with Elements. There’s no question they have a solid lineup for September and October (no surprise really, when don’t they?)

Basek and Fes tore it up last week, and if you weren’t there, check out the pics I took in the gallery.

This Thursday (Sep 9) is DJ DARA, who will kick off his set with some London ‘Ardkore from circa ‘93-‘94 at around 160bpm, and work his way up to present-day drum and bass. And Pete Dev/Null is opening, who also happens to have plenty of records from the early years of drum and bass. Will definitely be a full house so get there early.

Following DARA, here is the schedule for Sept/Oct:

9.16: Terravita
9.23: Residents Crook & Lenore
9.30: Klute
10.7: The Statesmen
10.14: John B (Phoenix Landing 15 Year Anniversary)
10.21: Ross Tiefenthaler
10.28: Residents Crook & Lenore

DNB fans: Brandon Miles @ Seismic and Surgical @ Elements this week

Versatile Maine producer Brandon Miles kicks off his Bloodline tour in Boston this wednesday at the Goodlife! He has a pretty diverse resume when it comes to his original music, producing not only dnb which has been picked up by the likes of Ohm Resistance and Gain Recordings, but also performs in a band and churn out a good amount of music that falls well below the 180 bpm range. He will be playing with The Statesmen, and if you like what you see, you'll get a second chance to check him out at the Middle East on July 29th.

Surgical (aka Drew Stylus) touches down at Elements this Thursday! He has been involved with Boston's local drum and bass scene for years now and is in his third year of hosting his enduring radio show on Kunninmindz showcasing the latest tracks this genre has to offer. Check out his recent promo mix below, recorded in June.

This Thursday: Byetone/Make it New, Soulwax/Underbar, Elements

A lot of good events happening tomorrow night peoples. First up is Soulwax and Hot Pink Delorean at Underbar, hosted by Scion! Many probably know Soulwax under their other alias "2 Many DJ's"; they've been producing for awhile now and have been busy over the past months working on Tiga's debut album as well as their album and video project "Part of the Weekend Never Dies" which was released last year. The music they produce is pretty eclectic, during the past several years they've honed in on electro and even stuff with a vocal indie rock edge, but who knows what their future projects will entail. If you haven't heard them before, their Night Versions album from 2005 is a good place to start. Check the clips below, and get there early to catch Hot Pink Delorean, they've been coming out with so many new tracks lately that every set they play is loaded with new tracks and remixes!

If minimal techno is more your bag (baby) then Make It New has a great night planned over at the Middlesex. They have two artists who produce and play on the experimental tip on tap. Alva Noto is a German composer who is well known for creating compositions with unconventional sounds and really pushing the envelope when it comes to his entire workflow. He is well respected as a musician and has performed at highly esteemed events such as Mutek in recent history. Byetone is also playing; he is well known as a minimal producer but he's also a respected graphic designer as well. So it should be no surprise that he references typography in his album from last year titled "Death of a Typographer". Be sure to check these two producers, along with Volvox, tomorrow at the Middlesex!

And for the drum and bass heads, there's always Elements! Local producers The Statesmen are going to be playing, and if you've been regularly going to dnb events within Boston for a minute now you know these guys already. They are the biggest supporters of Boston's scene, it is a rarity when you don't see at least one member from this assemblage out at a drum and bass event. When they're not busy in the studio crafting their sound, they're throwing their event "Seismic" at Goodlife and Enormous Room. Check their myspace for their most recent tunes, such as Smile and Sandcastles.

Elements (dnb): May/June 2009 flyer released!

Flyer for the next two months of Elements has hit the streets! And kickstarting things off is our friend Damian Dieselboy Higgins, who is certainly no stranger to the American drum and bass scene. He's still touring off the strength of his highly successful Substance D mix cd from last year, and as most know his Moonshine mixes from back in the day are legendary (I was rinsing my Soldiers' Story cassette from '99 just the other day in fact, that was the mix that exposed me to Konflict's "The Beckoning" for the first time!) He's normally known for playing very dark but for elements he tends to mix it up a little. J Majik and the Upbeats play the Phoenix on an annual basis as well and are both fine representatives of the jump-up and techstep sounds of drum and bass, respectively. And big ups to Chris Crisis and the NAMBLA crew!! Perhaps they'll lower the minimum age to get in that night to 11+ (j/k)!

I've been talking with The Statesmen and I might record their set with my DV camcorder in addition to getting the audio of their set to host on here, more on this later.
