Upbeats at the Phoenix Landing, thursday 6.11.09!

First headliner act on tap for Elements for the month of June! The Upbeats are no strangers in the drum and bass scene and they've been moving from strength to strength as producers over the course of the past several years. They've been busy helping shape the sound of neurofunk/techstep and have released tunes on Violence, Project 51, Subtitles, Virus, and Ganja-Tek. Hailing from New Zealand and getting their first break in 2004, they were one of the first production teams who were instrumental in attracting attention to dnb talent outside the UK and have boasted a similar success story within the genre as Concord Dawn and Pendulum. They've got a busy tour schedule on the radar this summer playing tons of stops in the U.S. on the Monsters of Jungle Tour with Dieselboy, Ewun, Mayhem & Evol Intent so come check them out at Elements tomorrow and wish them luck on their tour!

Don't know the Upbeats? Check the videos below. Have most of their tracks? Check em out anyways!

Elements (dnb): May/June 2009 flyer released!

Flyer for the next two months of Elements has hit the streets! And kickstarting things off is our friend Damian Dieselboy Higgins, who is certainly no stranger to the American drum and bass scene. He's still touring off the strength of his highly successful Substance D mix cd from last year, and as most know his Moonshine mixes from back in the day are legendary (I was rinsing my Soldiers' Story cassette from '99 just the other day in fact, that was the mix that exposed me to Konflict's "The Beckoning" for the first time!) He's normally known for playing very dark but for elements he tends to mix it up a little. J Majik and the Upbeats play the Phoenix on an annual basis as well and are both fine representatives of the jump-up and techstep sounds of drum and bass, respectively. And big ups to Chris Crisis and the NAMBLA crew!! Perhaps they'll lower the minimum age to get in that night to 11+ (j/k)!

I've been talking with The Statesmen and I might record their set with my DV camcorder in addition to getting the audio of their set to host on here, more on this later.
