Your friendly neighborhood juke and UK funky promoters G Notorious and Vice-T are reminding you that it’s a new month via their Dubwise party, always on the first Sunday of every single one. Tonight they are showcasing the talent of juke producer Matt Mauldin, aka Wheez-IE. This guy has dozens upon dozens of ass-shaking originals and exclusives, and is hot off the heels of his “All Werked Up” vinyl EP (which I gave a written thumbs-up on here a few weeks ago).
Check out more of Matt’s work on his Soundcloud, and grab a free track of his below.

G NOTORIOUS [SUBduction/SoulChampion.com/Dubwise] DJing since 1994 at the very beginning of the Jungle era, G Notorious has been riding the subsonic soundwaves from the UK Underground ever since. DUBWISE, running for over 3 years, is G Notorious’ showcase for the next, bridging the classic and the new across the evolution and permutations of the ‘Ardcore Continuum.
Enormous Room, Mass Ave Cambridge, 9pm to 1 am, $5
And this is across the street at the Phoenix Landing! Starts at 10pm, Kat Fyte, Rizzla, and Justincredible at the console all night long. Pretty sure they’re open until 1 as well. $3 cover.
PS: I like the whole Minaj vs. Lil Kim concept! Easily the funniest hip hop feud of recent years…when was the last time Lil Kim was relevant, what, 1997? And that was only because of Biggie ;)
Also, Kat Fyte is an alumni of the Beantown Boogiedown podcast mix series. After tasking him with the project last spring, he churned out one of the most eclectic mixes the series has produced, in under 12 hours. You can check it out here in the archives.
Banana Peel Records have only begun their story mere months ago, but they have already been turning heads in the Boston dance scene, with artists Elkid and Mzungu holding a thursday residency at Underbar, and also with artists Fens and Doctor Jeep playing shows at the Enormous Room and MIT Sailing club, opening for acts such as Tommie Sunshine. Come celebrate the genesis of one of the city’s only truly DIY house music labels in one of the area’s best places to hear live DJs, totally free.
Furthermore, Banana Peel is celebrating upcoming individual releases, as well as the debut of our Full Peel mix series, with a debut mix from Boston veteran Jason Bergman. With many dates coming up for these young artists that actually cost money (bummer), why not see them all in one place for free?
Texas based producer Dubbel Dutch has expressed interest in playing Boston for a minute now, and there are a slew of dance music junkies here who have him pegged high on their wishlists of up-and-coming DJ/producers to see in 2010. This thursday he touches down at Enormous Room courtesy of the SUBduction crew!
To isolate Dubbel Dutch’s music and influences to a single genre or style would be an impossible task. His sound combines a ton of different styles, as evidenced from tracks like “Throwback”, which include everything from drum-and-bass breaks at 130bpm, house vocals edited in 4x4 garage fashion, and a general UK funky feel to top it all off. Both of his EP’s have been released on Palms Out Sounds, a respected label that caters towards cutting-edge producers. He has been in close contact with many associates from across the pond, including Bok Bok and L-Vis 1990, so get ready for more quality content from him. He’s only getting started.
Pete Dev/Null (who will be juggling this along with Elements across the street!!) and Wheez-IE are opening, cover is $5, and Enormous Room is 21+. Central Square/Mass Ave, Cambridge.

This month will be even more fun, when special guests DJ Synapse from FRANK 151 Magazine and Hartford CT’s finest DJ Legacy joins resident DJs Tommee and Knife for the best hip hop, reggae and party jamz on the planet. Two floors all night.

Kat Fyte and friends are taking Enormous Room over tonight and are throwing down all different types of party music to cater to all different types of crowds. Die Young has the week off, but rest assured, you’re in good hands with these guys. $5 cover.
The 2nd edition of GOOD NEWS! comes with not one, but two dj’s playing back to back.
Beep Iams is a product of Chicago and currently resides in NYC. As a former drum’n’bass dj, he applies the same fast paced, energetic sets with electro and house music.
Back again is DJ Die Young who switches it up from the minimal and techno he usually plays at Make it New, to feel good house, funk, and hip hop. His tracks are always on tune and in time.
On Tuesday, October 27, On A Friday is giving you a dose of Boston’s freshest DJ talent in the form of a sexy, bloody mess. HAUNTED HAUS will be at the Enormous Room in Cambridge and will host the college DJs Nooka Jones, Jason Bergman, and C & G, with visuals by Ryan McDaid.
The 21+ party is FREE and will go from 9 to 1 AM.
There are many DJ nights in Boston that offer the same show every week, with few surprises and standardized sets. Haunted Haus will be a different kind of show, featuring fresh, diverse sets from each of our college DJs (our talent represents Northeastern, Boston University, Boston College, and Berklee). The night will have some Halloween spice tastefully thrown in… who knows, we might even have some candy blood.
Check out the event on Facebook by clicking here. And check out Enormous room’s website here.
Throwed presents the Boston premiere of Dangerous Muse at the Middle East Upstairs, this tuesday!
So after months and months of special guests filling the hole in the hearts of the subliminal dudes left by the absence of the hometown homeboy, professor pious… the mighty professor returns!
This should only add to the momentum the subliminal dudes have been building in recent weeks, with the launch of projects like Links Soundclash, Boston’s local producer showcase; and LOSTINBASS.com, a site focused on bringing new sounds to the city and bringing the bass scene together… not to mention Stickem’s (for now) top secret collaborations that should make waves. (run-on sentences are awesome, amirite?)
Need I mention dabu and dsub’s fiery opening sets at Bassic opening for Mochipet? No, probably not. You were there anyways, right? No? Oh, bummer. I know you needed to hear that Juan Mclean tune for the 7th time that week.
So, slightly less wordy summary:
dabu.dsub.professorpious.stickem bring you the best in under the radar hiphop.glitchhop.wonky.skwee.dubstep and original productions, ‘natch.
DUBWISE OLD SCHOOL SESSIONS This time we’re going WAY back. Before Funky, Dubstep, Grime, 2-Step… the beginning of what some people call the ‘Ardcore Continuum… the ever evolving music pathway through the UK Underground that started with UK Hardcore at the very beginning of the 1990’s and spawned genre after genre with each generation of producers and club-goers in the UK.
